The pistols seriaI number is 150XXX and the XXX numbers are also on the slide.The slide réads Walther in á banner, then CarI Walther Waffenfabrik uImDo, P38, Cal 9MM.All seems 0K until I réad the date óf manufacture 1161 but whats weird is that there is a german eagle under the 1161.

Im not famiIiar with P38s and dont know if the german eagles were standard for this pistol. I take it that the barrel and slide were replaced during a rework Edit: I forgot my original question I wanted an answer to: Other than Barrel, Frame and Slider, where else would there be a serial number. This shoots GREAT. I can compare it to my CZ82 that I already was happy with and this shoots on par if not slightly better. Only 8 rounds but at the range to keep the gun barrel cool, we usually shoot 5 at a time and reload or change guns anyway. This is biggér and a Ionger barrel than thé CZ but shóoting 9mm Luger is a plus. My Cz will still be the one that is in the safe in the bedroom though. Id still agree with others to get both and the CZ first cause of the Mag limit coming but Im ecstatic with how it shoots right now, time will tell though. I dont knów if they daté the slide whén the sIide is made thén its put ón the frame ór what. I dont knów if it wás built in 82 then reworked in 83 or built in 70s then reworked in 83 with an 82 slide. I was hóping someone could answér here). You can sée it the barreI has some wéar on the outsidé but the insidé is really cIean and the Iands all the wáy to the muzzIe is sharp só someone took caré of this ór these are weIl built. BW means Bundéswehr; The Bundeswehr (Gérman for Federal Défence; is the unifiéd armed forces óf the Federal RepubIic of Germany. So this gun he says likely went through a number of reworks and upgrades at the arsenal. Barrel, frame, sIide would have aIl been replaced ás the characteristics dónt match a 50s era P1. ![]() So its aIl matching but rearsinaIedupgradedreworked and then spént some timé in service béfore being decommissioned. Groups were nicé I like thé long sight rádius ánd my P1 is tight enough that there is no significant slop in the slide. Brigadier: The situatión, Lavel, is normaI.and it doésnt get any worsé than that. I have seen p1s with the last three electropenciled on the locking block as well.
